Promotional Stubby Cooler History

The History of Promotional Drink Holders

Several patents for drinks holders have been filed over the years, but the first recognisable stubby coolers appeared on the market in the 1980s in Australia and the USA.

In America, they were known as ‘Koozies’, a trademark of the Radio Cap Corporation that has now passed into everyday use. However, these early drink holders were made from foam and weren’t very good at keeping drinks cold.

By the mid-1980s the first neoprene stubby coolers began to appear. These were much more efficient at keeping drinks chilled and, as a result, they became very popular.

What Is Neoprene?

Neoprene is a synthetic rubber. It’s lightweight and soft to touch which makes it comfortable to hold. It’s also waterproof and has excellent insulating properties, making it the perfect material for your stubby cooler.
