Even in this modern, technology obsessed world, there’s nothing that quite rivals the creative satisfaction of breaking open a fresh, new Moleskine notebook, and inking your ideas onto that crisp, clean page.

Heck, even a shopping list or a silly doodle takes on extra gravitas when it's written on the hallowed pages of a Moleskine.

Legendary Custom Notebooks

Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh – not just three of the greatest creative minds of all time, but also all purported users of what are now known as Moleskine notebooks.

These notebooks were characterised by leather covers, rounded corners, and a ribbon to mark a page. They originated in Paris, but were not attributed to any one company, instead being made by a variety of bookbinders who supplied the local stationery shops.

Though the exact truth of whether these notebooks were used by names such as these is open to interpretation, the association helped to create the now hugely successful Moleskine brand.

Notebooks for Businesses

In the mid-1990s, the company Modo & Modo were convinced to resurrect these classic notebooks by Maria Sebregondi. The company trademarked the Moleskine brand and produced 5,000 notebooks, which went to market in 1997.

Fast forward to 2021 and the company has a wide product line and sells millions of notebooks every year.
